Rev. John Henry Hopkins Jr.

1820 – 1891

“Uncle Henry” portrayed by Amos Raber, was an accomplished artist, musician, and poet, creating many beautiful works of art for the Church. He wrote many hymns, eventually compiling a song book, “Carols, Hymns and Songs” which he published in 1872. He served as a deacon, a rector and then a priest in the Episcopal Church. In his later years, he gave the eulogy at the funeral of president Ulysses S. Grant.

Amelia “Amy” Muller Fay

1844 – 1928

Amy became an accomplished pianist, traveling to Europe where she studied under great musicians including Franz Liszt and Ludwig Deppe.

She became known for her book, Music Study in Germany. She was a manager of the New York Women’s Philharmonic Society and was famous for her Musical Conversations – a combination of a recital and lecture.

In We Three Kings, Amy is portrayed by Sidonia Gustafson as a young girl and Nise Davies as an adult.

Katherine Maria Fay Stone


Katherine married William Eben Stone and had 4 children – 3 girls and 1 boy. William was a good business man and became wealthy in the mining and steel industry in Michigan. Katherine love to play the piano but refused any ‘public’ performances.

Charles Norman Fay

1848 -1944

Charles graduated from Harvard and became a very successful business man as General Manager of the Chicago Telephone Company, president of the Chicago Gas Company and president of the Chicago Arc Light and Power Company. He even communicated with Thomas Edison to gain insight on his new inventions.

Charles loved music and with director Theodore Thomas founded the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Charles wrote many books with titles like: Labor in Politics, Too Much Government, Too Much Taxation, Big Business and Government, Social Justice: The Moral of the Henry Ford Fortune
